Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the vibrant departments of KIOT, which offers B.E Mechanical Engineering and M.E Industrial Safety Engineering. The Department is rich in term of faculty members with an average teaching experience of 8 years and research exposure of 4 years. The Department has a team of 53 dedicated members of faculty, 6 with Ph.D and 10 pursuing their research and Research Center was approved by Anna University, Chennai. The Department Faculty and students has published more than 300 papers in National and International Conferences/Journals. The major areas of research include Condensation heat Transfer ,Solar Energy, Phase Change Material, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Waste Heat Recovery, Energy Efficient Technologies, Ventilation Analysis, Digital Manufacturing, Vacuum Cooling, Robotics, ERP, Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Safety Engineering.
The Department has established collaborative research centers with Harita Techserv Pvt., Ltd., Bahwan CyberTek Pvt., Ltd.,Seven Standards Industrial Solution Pvt., Ltd, B-WI( Barry-Wehmiller India) and Seine Aerospace Products Design. Harita Techserve Pvt. Ltd., is involved in providing training and services on the field of product design, digital manufacturing and technical documentation for upcoming industries. Bahwan CyberTek Pvt., Ltd., providing hands on training to the students to make them industry ready candidates in IBM-Maximo enterprise asset management system. Seven Standards Industrial Solution Pvt., Ltd. is a leading consulting company, operating inside KIOT Campus, providing detailed engineering solutions for oil and gas, petroleum, power sectors, chemical and food industry.
The Department has conventional and research laboratories. The CAD/CAM laboratory has CatiaV6, DelmiaV5, 3DVia, Ansys13.0, Solidworks 2011-12, MAT Lab, Think3 design, NXCAD,PLM and Edge-Cam software.
The Internal Combustion laboratory has research level setup of exhaust gas analyzer, smoke meter with data lag acquisition and R&AC testing instruments.
Our faculty members have an average publications rate of 1.5 papers per year in International and National Journals. Our publishing rate is average of one paper per year in International Conference and three per year in National Conference.
Every year each faculty of our department is undergoing minimum 12 days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on different topics.
Our Senior faculty members have been doing industrial consultancy works for Corn Industry, Consultancy for smart Factory, Safety Audit for MNC’s, Sugar Process industry’s ventilation work, solar power drying unit for sago factory and heat exchanger design for heat exchanger manufacturing industry.
Our college has memberships in professional societies like SAEINDIA, IAPMO, ISHRAE, QCFI, IWS.
Dr.PSS.Srinivasan, Professor & Principal has Received as “Best Principal” for the year 2017 by Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
AICTE – CII Survey of Industry linked Technical Institutes 2016, KIOT has been ranked one among Top Three Institutions and Mechanical Engineering Department has been ranked one among Top 12 institutions all over India with PLATINUM Ranking.
Our students Team ASTRA participated in National Level EFFICYLE contest conducted by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandar, and Punjab & Ranked as 39th position in 2015 and Ranked as 24th position all over India in 2016
Our students Team FORCEA participated in National Level EFFICAR contest conducted by University Institute of Engineering and Technology in association with Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Club (UIET-SAE) held at University Institute of Engineering and Technology & bagged 13th Position all over India in 2016.
Our students Participated in National Level Electrical Solar Vehicle Championship 2016 conducted by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers, India (ISIE) and Secured 33rd Position in Asia.
Our students Team DHRUV participated in National Level BAJA SAEINDIA contest conducted by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) held at NATRiP (National Automotive Testing and R&D infrastructure Project), Pithampur, Indore & bagged 76th Position all over India in 2017.
Our Students Participated in National Level TECHNEX (Internet of Things) Contest conducted by IIT,Varanasi and bagged 4thPlace all over India
